ELLEN UYTEWAAL ART

KUNSTDRUKKEN / ART PRINTS

Visioen / Vision

Visioen. Orig. 43 cm x 59 cm (1995)

Vision. Orig. 43 x 59 cm (1995)

When artist Ellen Uytewaal experiences the vastness and rugged beauty of Canadian nature during a trip, she also became interested in the original people of North-America. Now it turns out that the memories of this country and the sence of solidarity with Indian culture have become the source of inspiration, from wich she obtains deeply felt ideas. Shortly after her homecoming in Holland she painted “Vision” while her knowledge about Chief Joseph and the native Americans was still very limited. Later on she discovered that the intuitively painted portret of this inspiring person exactly represents the meaning of his indian name “Hin Mah Too Yah Lat Kekt “: “Thunder rolling over the mountains”.
